By Charlotte de Bekker

For last April's Berlin Gallery Weekend, 032c held a special presentation of their latest 'What We Believe' apparel and accessories collection at their 032 Workshop space.

032c is a magazine and ready-to-wear brand with its own exhibition space. Founded by Joerg Koch in 2001, 032c grew from a limited edition zine to one of the world's most exciting cultural magazine.

032c is a magazine and ready-to-wear brand with its own exhibition space. Founded by Joerg Koch in 2001, 032c grew from a limited edition zine to one of the world's most exciting cultural magazine. Over the years they have collaborated with major names in the fashion, music, and art industry, as well as respected intellectuals: Juergen Teller, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Raf Simons, Wolfgang Tillmans, and Rem Koolhaas, Frank Ocean, Zygmunt Bauman, Eric Hobsbawm. The list goes on. Their motto has remained the same since day 1: they believe in the intellectual curiosity of their readers. Since 2016, they started to produce 032c Apparel, under the creative vision of Maria Koch and Fashion Director Marc Goehring. Their exhibition space in Kreuzberg, Berlin, is simply called '032c Workshop' and was designed by Konstantin Grcic.

On view last weekend was What We Believe, 032c's new apparel collection. Inspired by Black Mountain College, a "political sanctuary and artistic incubator", founded in 1933, the collection is an ode to satire, multi-disciplinary creation, and courage. These values were embedded in the lighters, belts, keychains, scotch tape, socks but also staple printed tees, well-constructed outerwear, and sturdy military pants of the collection. Garment construction was polished and materials well-chosen. Color palettes complement each other between soft green and beige hues and bright reds and pinks accents.

REFERENCE WORDS: contrast, soft, metal, suede, rubber, aluminum, playful, outspoken
