GAD Talk Series #5: How To Create Digital Networks in The Art World?

Join us for a conversation on the digitalization of networks in the art world, from London to Beijing to Lisbon to Tokyo. This is the fifth edition of the GAD Talk Series, which will foster dialogues in the global art world during this pandemic. The topic of this conversation is “How To Create Digital Networks in The Art World?” With a distinguished panel of speakers including former museum directors, conference and symposium founders, and entrepreneurs, we will explore the opportunities and challenges that digitalization and remote work impose on art professionals — from both European and Asian perspectives. 

Topics explored include: Did the pandemic accelerate networking amongst art professionals? How to leverage and scale digital interconnectivity between art professionals, and how to approach the museum, art market, and independent curatorial sectors in different ways? What social media apps are preferred by the global art world, and how do these preferences differ from Europe to China? What alternatives do art professionals have to Instagram?

Organized as an open discussion, this panel will be live-streamed on Global Art Daily's Youtube channel and will welcome live questions from the audience.

Join us for a conversation about Global Art Daily (GAD)'s past and present. This is our first edition of the GAD Talk Series, which will foster dialogues in the global art world during this pandemic. The topic of this conversation is "What is GAD? 2015 to Now." Sophie Arni, GAD's Founder and Editor-in-Chief, will introduce the progression of Global Art Daily from blog to print and digital publication. She will discuss how her travels have affected her perception of contemporary art, and how she has built an international network of artists, curators, and writers from Abu Dhabi, UAE. The panelists include Ashraf Mohiy and Ev Zverev, part of the GAD's 2020-21 Editorial Board, and Christopher Benton, Dubai-based artist and GAD's long-time supporter and contributor. Topics explored include: How has GAD evolved during the past 5 years? What is GAD's long-term vision? What has GAD contributed to the UAE art scene? How do we define "global" and "global art"?
